New Theory: Captain John has Polydipsia

Polydipsia sounds like the drinking equivalent to binge eating disorder.

I wonder if Captain John is polydipsic (psychogenic polydipsia to be exact)?

I highly doubt he’s denying Steve of liquid on purpose….

Yep, it’s not on purpose because in none of Johnny Utah’s artworks, John does not have a mean look on his face. He looks like he’s just going on, completely unaware his best friend is dehydrated or pissy because he drank all the coffee.

So, this lead to me believe John suffers from polydipsia but instead of constantly reaching for water, he just has incredibly poor self control where every time he goes to the store to buy liquid or packs it for a long mission, it won’t last very long as John will drink the entire case in one sitting. It’s to the point where you can’t really trust him to go shopping or on a mission alone, where after the drinks are paid for, they have to get hidden and brought out one at a time so John won’t make the whole case and containers disappear. And on missions, someone has to solely be in charge of the water and just pull out water when John actually asks for water.

Firstly, Mars has interesting standards. (water comes in cans instead of bottles so we can conclude the cans John has around him in Graveyard Shift was, in fact, water) (I bet northern hemisphere tankpeople get water from the ground and the winter snow because I doubt the southern hemisphere will let Northerners anywhere near their water, it’s a planetary war, of course nobody’s sharing their resources!) Secondly, I guess in Rumble, somebody is watching how much John drinks because there’s one can and we don’t want Steve getting dehydrated again.

So, as a result, he’s prone to water intoxication. (This happens when your cells absorb too much water, so Tankpeople are not safe from water intoxication)

Either way, wanted to share this theory. John just has a disorder that causes him to drink everything in one sitting if put in front of it. (e.g., an entire case of water, an entire gallon of milk, etc.)

Dang, this disorder is confusing! I will definitely put it in my webseries as it shows a weakness with Captain John.

Despite what @JohnnyUtah says, I will make Captain feel like a real person. https://64.media.tumblr.com/3533fa63aee0214c6fadcb714c87fec2/bba01dc116a67256-16/s1280x1920/a378f10e40f42156c39d860f4849d918510b3c1c.jpg I will give him weaknesses, his biggest weaknesses are this disorder (which I will make him completely unaware of, even when others point it out to him or water intoxication plagues him (the dizziness and excessive vomiting and urination doesn't tell him either)) and insecurities, they mainly revolve around trying to please authority figures (it was fear he got from his tanklinghood because his aunt, uncle, and grandparents who raised him were very strict, his grandfather and uncle both disapprove of his feminine side (as a tankling, he played with dolls, the games he played mimiced homemaking, favored time with his aunt and grandmother over his uncle and grandfather, he had hard time making friends in school as during his tanklinghood, Mars viewed tankwomen as a subclass so female tanklings were not allowed to go to school as they were expected to stay home so poor John played by himself while his classmates made fun of him, he referred to his comfort item (a sheep plushie) named Lamby to she/her pronouns, and his grandmother taught him how to knit and sew so that's what he did, but as a tankling, he only made clothes for his dolls, a bow for Lamby, quilts, and blankets) while his grandmother and aunt were just indifferent with it because "he's expressing himself") so his greatest fear is the colonel and what he thinks of him.

Like, although he's fearless, I doubt he's 100% fearless, as keeping the colonel happy is his insecurity.
