What is With John Dehydrating Steve?!!

I noticed there’s a common theme in official Tankmen artwork….

John seems to love denying Steve any liquid. And it’s all done the same way, just by being a huge pig! (Think the awful SpongeBob episode, “Yours, Mine, and Mine” but the toy is replaced by a pitcher of water because that’s what I see)

And on the first one, you can tell dehydration has already settled in for poor Steve. (Ouch, look at how yellow his pee is) But regardless, it’s a pattern…

Why is John doing this to poor Steve?! He’s his best friend and likely his ward (given the monumental age difference between John and Steve and the fact both Steve’s parents are dead and Steve is not an adult, it’s safe to assume that John has legal custody over Steve), you’d think John would care enough to make an extra pot of coffee for Steve or pack extra liquid if he knows he’ll just drink it all. (I imagine if Graveyard Shift had a sequel piece, it won’t be very pretty, I imagine we’ll see Steve irrationally angry with John for drinking all their water. I will make an episode based off it in my webseries covering it) And also tells me John probably likes to drink in excessive amounts, like he’s the type who would drink the entire 12-pack of soda cans in one sitting if he bought it. (Or drink whole pack of bottled water) (I imagine John is prone to water intoxication due to this)

Either way, I noticed that this is a common theme in official Tankmen artwork.

Damn captain kinda devious for that

Yep, he is, it’s honestly kinda cruel. It makes me feel bad for Steve and wishing Captain John got his comeuppance for it. I don’t know if he’s doing it on purpose or not (heck, only Johnny Utah knows since he’s the one who drew these!), like he either does it for his sick amusement or he’s unconsciously doing it because he’s a binge drinker and he’s completely unaware of his habit (think binge eating but it’s drinking instead, like he’s someone who should have his drinks locked away and gets one at a time or he drinks the entire case in one sitting. Where if he bought a gallon of milk, it would be gone before he even got the chance to put it away). (Which might be the case because Cap’s face in each of them, they’re not mean looks but like he’s just going on with his life, like it’s a habit he has but he feels like he can’t control it) But still I don’t know why he does that to poor Steve.

I guess next Graveyard Shift, Steve should be in charge of the water, Mr. Bingedrinker.
