If Get the Chance: I Might Pitch an Animated Tankmen Series

Posted by Peonycreme - February 13th, 2024

This is for the far future but I plan to pitch a full-fledged animated Tankmen series to streaming (Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime) if I ever end up working at an animation studio. Why? One, I love the Tankmen, two, they’re open source (essentially public domain) so I can do whatever I want with them, and three, it actually has potential for a full series. Also, adapting the internet has become popular again and within the past few years we got series adaptations of Baby Shark, Ryan’s World, and Lucas the Spider. But I think Hollywood should’ve just left them alone, they don’t have enough material for a full-fledged series.

Meanwhile, out of all the webseries I have seen, I strongly believe the Tankmen has the most potential for a full-fledged series. It has lots of material and lots that can be expanded on. I just see a fun, comedic show about Captain John and Steve navigating life on their Martian military base (it’s Mars, you can’t unsee it) and fighting their pointless war with the enemy tankmen.

Here’s the things that have potential:

  • Fleshing out the characters we grew to know and love. Like, there are facts on the wikias and lost character cards that reveal facts we never saw in the webseries; like Steve wearing pink panties, Steve loving cheddar and American cheese, John being a fashionista, and John’s maternal side.
  • The culture and life on Mars. (I want to see how the tankpeople live and what laws and cultural standards they have to abide by, and the holidays and festivities they celebrate)
  • Tankwomen joining the military. (I really want to see more tankwomen soldiers, women can fight too)
  • It can flesh out characters we never really got to see much: Liutentant, Sargaent (I will get rid of his stupid chin like I did here), Jeremy (apparently, Paranoid Sniper’s real name is Jeremy according to Google), the Friday Night Funkin Tankmen, and Honey (that’s my fan name for the pregnant Tankwoman who appeared in the background of Tankmen Infinity, she’s part of the enemy base and just appears for one second. I call her Honey)
  • Honey’s tankbaby (she’s pregnant, and judging by her baby bump, she’s due pretty soon, the tankbaby is inevitable)
  • Phil (Okay, Skittles Meets Phil made me cry and I consider it to be canon, just Skittles being a caring big brother to Bill’s tiny son!! He needs a baby sibling now!! And I can also see John being a father figure to Phil since he only has his mom)
  • How young can tankpeople become soldiers? (I imagine the military bases have a program where tanklings as young as 3 train to become soldiers but they mainly do remedial tasks and training because they’re just children. And I can see Phil being a part of that program. I also can see Skittles bonding with a female tankling (in my head, her name is Sticks) in his base’s program and she often visits him in the watchtower after he had his baby brother, she mainly asks him stupid questions (like, “What are you doing?”, “Do you go to church?”, “What is that yucky stuff?”, etc.). Also, seeing the tanklings will be very cute)
  • The city area and the Tankmen’s houses.
  • What kind of rule do they have? (Like, is it monarchy?)
  • Tankbabies
  • Tankpeople biology
  • Where do the soldiers go when they get down time?
  • Their backstories (like what was Steve’s family like before they passed away? Who raised John? What was Ted like when he was younger? Who was Captain before John became Captain? Is Commander a grandpa? And I know it’s gross but does Steve have urinary tract problems? Skittles’ parents?)
  • Religion (Christianity does exist in this world)

But don’t worry, when I do pitch this series, I will give Johnny Utah credit, public domain or not. Just saying it’s something I want to do as one of my pitches and I think it has lots of potential!
